The darkest (or lightest in the Southern Hemisphere) day of the year marks a turning point in our revolution around the sun ↠ a place in which we celebrate the light, the dark + the power of the in between : where the ouroboros returns to itself + the PHOENIX is reborn from its ashes ◐

.

Solstice is a dance in time when we come back to the beginning : where the dissolution of the dream and the awakening into reality become one and the same. We are always reminded at this time to honor : the eternal light within us : and ground into the knowing that we will always have the power to begin again + again : no matter what may ((seem)) to destroy us → we will, in some aspect, always be reborn.

.

Winter’s Solstice is the witches new year : it marks a new beginning in which we can find ourselves being whispered incantations of what this year ahead may bring us. Listen. Be aware of what is happening within + around you.  What strikes through today, the last couple of days and in the next few days will glimmer with hope into what lessons, blessings + bounty of learning will be gifted to you in this new year + in this fresh decade of precious + prosperous life.

.

.

On this day we reflect what this year has brought us. We remember our last solstice + see : HOW FAR WE HAVE COME + give gratitude for all that we have learned. Also on this day we strike the ▿ LIGHT ▵ : we beckon the new beginning of our intentions, dreams + desires with the power of flame + fire ↠ not unlike the eternal fire that burns within us.

Gather: Candle, Salt, Herbs + Flowers such as ginger, mullein, marigold, calendula, orange peel, honey, sacred sage or energy clearing resin, calendula infused oil (if you do not have this sunflower oil will work fine) citrine + clear quartz.

Tarot : Star Card

Preparation:

  1. Clear your space, yourself and your gathered materials with your energy cleansing herbs or resin.
  2. Mix the salt, herbs and flowers together in a small bowl or mortar and pestle. Grind anything that may need to be finer to roll onto the candle.
  3. Coat the candle from wick to bottom (drawing TOWARDS you) with honey.
  4. On a flat surface (or plate) lay out the crushed and mixed herbs, flower and salt mixture.
  5. Rolling the candle again TOWARDS you, roll the candle through the herb mixture, picking the candle back up and rolling back through until it is completely coated.
  6. Find a bowl or candle holder to place the candle in. At the bottom of the bowl or candle holder place the citrine and clear quartz crystal(s).
  7. Under the bowl/candle holder place the Star tarot card.

Ritual:

Once you have prepared your space, ground and center yourself. Breath into your belly and into the earth. Envision a golden light expanding out from your sacral chakra where your kundalini (or eternal fire) sits. Allow for this golden light to expand out to encompass your entire being and filling the room. Once you are completely filled in the light of your eternal fire, envision the infinity symbol connecting between your third eye and your sacral chakra. Pick up your clear crystal with your right hand and envision/feel what intentions/joy/abundance/power/love that you would like to experience in 2020. Channel this vision from your third eye into the quartz crystal in your hand by allowing for the energy to pour from your third eye/sacral chakra into your hand until it is filled with light. Once you have completed, put the quartz crystal into your left hand and receive all that you just intended back into your being. Once complete, carefully anoint the crystal and the candle with the calendula oil by drawing the oil towards you and down the candle and crystal. Write a few words of your intentions of what you would like to receive in 2020 and what your themes for the year are. Place this paper under the candle in between the candle and the tarot card. Light the candle and allow for it to burn COMPLETELY DOWN, do not leave the candle unattended! Due to the nature of the herbs, the dance of the flame can be wild. Please take precaution.

Once you have completed the ritual, wrap all pieces (except for the tarot card) of the ritual (including the leftover wax), the paper and the crystals together by binding with a ribbon or twine by bringing the string towards you. Place the bound paper, crystals and extra wax/herbs into the bottom of a pot of a new plant or at the base of a special plant in your yard. As the plant grows, so will the power of your intentions for the new year.
